A new drive-thru coffee chain opened its first location in Southern Indiana.
Dutch Bros opened its new store at 1751 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on Friday.
The to-go coffee chain offers a variety of energy drinks, teas, lattes, shakes, smoothies, sodas, coffees and snacks, according to the company’s website. This location has a pickup window and drive-thru lane, according to the website.
This is the second Dutch Bros location to open in the greater Louisville area. The first opened at 9101 Taylorsville Road, LBF previously reported. Another location was planned for 3151 S 3rd St. near Churchill Downs. Phil Radcliff, associate at TRIO, told Business First that the coffee chain is actively looking to develop more locations in the Southern Indiana and Louisville areas.
The Jeffersonville location will hire around 40 employees, a Dutch Bros spokesperson told LBF.
Each Dutch Bros location is similarly constructed, according to a report in LBF’s sister paper Jacksonville Business Journal — an approximately 950-square-foot drive-thru only store and a walk-up window with 25,000 to 30,000 square feet paved for drive-thru lanes.
In an investor presentation this year, the company said it opened more than 100 shops over the last year. Since 2022, Dutch Bros has nearly doubled the number of shops, the presentation said. Dutch Bros opened its first Lexington location in 2023 and its first Bowling Green store last year.
Founded more than 30 years ago, Dutch Bros operates more than 1,000 stores and reported $965.8 million of revenue last year, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Dutch Bros' entrance into the Louisville market comes as dozens of drive-thru coffee shops have descended on the region. In a 2022 report, 7 Brew Coffee Regional Manager Braxton Jones told Business First that the chain plans to open 30 to 40 stores in the Greater Louisville area over the next five years.
Meanwhile, Omaha, Nebraska-based Scooter's Coffee LLC expects to open a total of 26 locations in the Louisville area by the end of 2026.
